Solomon Islands forensics is to benefit from two thoughtful and significant donations of specialist equipment.

RAMSI Participating Police Force Forensics Advisor, Senior Constable Bryan Price last month presented Honiara’s National Referral Hospital with mortuary tools donated by Christchurch pathologist Dr Martin Sage.

Bryan says he was thrilled to be able to help obtain and present the much needed equipment to Dr Roger Maraka, pathologist at the hospital.

A further package of items, including a magnetic stirrer, beakers and laboratory coats, will be used in the setting up of a new laboratory for the chemical treatment of police exhibits to locate and preserve fingerprints.

These were donated as a result of an initiative by members of the New Zealand National Fingerprint Training Team and National Forensic Services Manager, Inspector John Walker.

“I know that all this equipment will be highly valued and will be put to good use,” says Bryan.
